Griff Bábszínház

Griff Bábszínház is an independent puppet theatre that has been operating since 2004 in Zalaegerszeg.

The primary mission of Griff Bábszínház is to create puppet and children’s theatre plays, bring the culture and traditions of Hungarian and other nations to life, organize puppet theatre gatherings, and provide both personnel and technical support for cultural programs organized by the local government.

In its short existence, the Griff Bábszínház ensemble has won numerous awards in the field of puppetry. The theatre regularly participates in various festivals and gatherings both domestically and internationally. In 2005, its play titled Holdfia received the Unima Diploma, and in 2010, at the International Puppet Theatre Festival for Adults in Pécs, it won the award for Best Male Performer. In 2010, the theatre was honored with the Golden Cradle Supporter title by the National Association of Large Families for its support of this social group. In the fall of 2013 and the summer of 2016, they performed in Japan with the play Hétalvó. In 2017, they organized a puppetry conference in Taiwan. The puppet theatre attracts around 35,000 spectators annually.
