Líšeň Carnival

Líšeň Carnival

Líšeň Carnival take place since 2012 thanks to the creative collaboration between the Ethnographic Company Líšeň and Líšeň Theatre. This rediscovered custom builds upon a famous tradition of the winter carnivals of the 18th and 19th century that were held before being interrupted by the First World War.

The festival prides itself by its high attendance (ranging to 2000 participants), collaborations with various theatre companies, and approximately 100 performers.

It takes place every Saturday before Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of Lent.

Carnival is organised by the Ethnographic Company Líšeň, Líšeň Theatre, Líšeň for Itself and the Líšeň Cultural Centre. The event is financially supported by the Brno-Líšeň District and the Statutory City of Brno.
