Every day, we witness a gradual numbing. Every day, we are actors in a voracious information feast. Every day, we are solitary swimmers in the ocean of information. Every day, we are exposed to the effect of disinformation and manipulative radiation. What happens when instead of the daily dose of guaranteed truths uttered in the name of power, there emerge testimonies of nameless and shaken individuals, immortalized in the reportage books of Nobel laureate Svetlana Alexievich? Her books are apolitically political. With unwavering certainty, they hold up a mirror to contemporary society. Through hundreds of interviews with witnesses, they offer an alternative form of modern history as seen by ordinary people.

Concept and direction: Petr Boháč Performers: Inga Zotova Mikshina, Roman Zotov Mikshin Technical support: Martin Tvrdý Project manager: Barbora Repická Production and booking: Aneta Fodorová, Veronika Ilíková Co-production: Palác Akropolis, …příští vlna/next wave… Supported by: City of Prague, Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, State Fund of Culture of the Czech Republic, Czech-German Future Fund.

Premiere: 21st September 2019 at Divadlo Komedie in Prague (as part of the Next Wave festival)

“Each report from the ‘kitchen’ of the subconscious, where powerlessness boils under the lid, cuts into you like a knife into aspic. The stigmata bleed the color of diluted borscht. It’s vegetarian, assures the presenter, offering a full plate while the smell of burnt meat wafts from the micro-stage. Spitfire Company’s new production is a hard-to-digest goulash, but everyone should taste it. The presenters always have a glass of vodka at hand. They’ll serve you quickly.” (About the performance The End of Man?! Reports Written from the Kitchen, Divadelní noviny)

“The creators perfectly named the paradox of our era of mass disinformation. The state television includes news from Radio Yerevan, a fictional radio station, synonyms for laughably stupid Soviet propaganda. But laughter is not appropriate. Your attention is drawn to the projection screen, where you watch a live animation broadcast directly from the table.” (Divadelní noviny)
