The play is inspired by an old Japanese kaidan about a powerful ghost. Originally a terrifying mystical story, it shifts to a humorous level.
The most horrifying transformations of the mythical Japanese ghost are a source of delight for a quirky villager craving horror experiences. The principles of traditional stylized Japanese farce kjogen are presented in a grotesque interpretation and enriched by a controversial domestic ghost from Czech history.
