The Courage to Know

we present as part of the series  the PRovoking theatre

The project consists of presenting politically or socially engaged plays by Divadlo Líšeň together with discussions.

The project includes the productions Putin is Skiing, Blood Hygiene and Crippletrek. The discussions develop the themes raised in the productions: contemporary Russia and its influence on European countries, the war in Ukraine, elements of totalitarianism and populism infiltrating present-day democratic societies; neo-Nazism, exclusion, poverty, illness and issues connected with the end of life.

The discussants are journalists, political scientists, humanitarian workers and other experts.

The aim of the project is to provide information on the explored topics and to uncover them in the context of the specific political and civic situation in the partner country. Therefore, the partner’s task is to create the concept of the discussion, choose the personality of the discussant and select the theme that resonates in their country and locality. The project’s output is jointly created composite programmes.
